On November 30, the Suffolk County Legislature passed a salary history ban. The new law amends the County’s Human Rights legislation and takes effect June 30, 2019.

- Inquiring into an applicant’s wage or salary history information including compensation and benefits. This includes asking an applicant or former employer orally or in writing, or conducting a search of publicly available records.
- Relying on salary history information to determine the wage or salary amount for an applicant at any stage in the process including the offer.
