Information collected from individual consumers
Asurint is a Consumer Reporting Agency regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act 15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq. ("FCRA"), and offers a wide range of employment background screening services, including criminal record searches, previous employment and education verification and references, motor vehicle records and more.Asurint provides information to business customers only - not to the general public. Asurint customers must certify a permissible purpose under the FCRA to receive the information. Customers must also disclose to a consumer that a
Consumer Report (also known as a background report, background check, etc.) is being requested and obtain the consumer’s written authorization. All customers must undergo a prequalification process.
Individual consumers may provide “Applicant Data” via this Site. The Applicant Data that may be requested includes, but is not limited to: name, contact information (phone, email address, etc.), date of birth, employment and education history, and identification number (such as a Social Security Number). Asurint will treat any Applicant Data considered sensitive under applicable law in accordance with that applicable law. The collection and use of sensitive Applicant Data will be limited to that which is strictly necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Your explicit consent will be obtained to the processing of your sensitive Applicant Data, unless otherwise permitted by applicable law.
Use of Personal information
Asurint collects, uses and discloses your Personal Information in its normal course of business for the following purposes:- Establishing and maintaining communications with you;
- Where you have requested a service from Asurint, assisting you in the completion of your application, the assessment of your eligibility for any such requested service, the processing and maintenance of the service, as well as any applicable renewal of such service;
- Responding to your inquiries about applications, accounts and other services;
- Making proposals for future service needs;
- Allowing our affiliated companies to notify you of certain products or services offered by our affiliated companies;
- Processing transactions through service providers;
- Meeting legal, security, processing and regulatory requirements;
- Protecting against fraud, suspicious or other illegal activities; and
- Compiling statistics for analysis of our sites and our business.
Except as provided by this Privacy Policy or otherwise permitted by law, Asurint does not use Personal Information collected from our customers through this web site, whether order information or client information, for any purpose other than for conducting the Asurint Services.
Use of Personal Information from individual consumers
Any Applicant Data collected via this Site will be used for such purposes as to prepare a Consumer Report in connection with your employment application, volunteer application, contractor relationship, etc. as requested by our customers. (Note: Asurint is not involved in the hiring or eligibility determination process for our customers). If applying to work for Asurint, the Applicant Data will be used for such purposes as to consider your candidacy for employment and will populate an employee record in the event you are hired by Asurint.Disclosures to Third Parties
Generally we do not share with third parties any Personal information, except as needed to carry out the services requested. However, in the normal course of performing services for our clients, Personal Information may be shared within Asurint and its affiliates for research and statistical purposes, system administration, etc.As we continue to develop our business, we might sell or buy assets. In such transactions, user information, including Personal Information, generally is one of the transferred business assets. Also, if either Asurint itself or substantially all of Asurint’s assets were acquired, your Personal Information may be one of the transferred assets. Therefore, we may disclose and/or transfer your Personal Information to a third party purchaser in these circumstances.
Asurint preserves the right to disclose without your prior permission any Personal Information about you or your use of this Site if Asurint has a good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) protect and defend the rights, property or safety of Asurint, employees, other users of this Site, or the public; (b) enforce the terms and conditions that apply to use of this Site; (c) as required by a legally valid request from a competent governmental authority; or (d) respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third-parties. Data Privacy Framework Privacy Policy
Asurint complies with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (EU-U.S. DPF), the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Swiss-U.S. DPF) as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Asurint has certified to the U.S. Department of Commerce that it adheres to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework Principles (EU-U.S. DPF Principles) with regard to the processing of personal data received from the European Union in reliance on the EU-U.S. DPF and from the United Kingdom (and Gibraltar) in reliance on the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF. Asurint has certified to the U.S. Department of Commerce that it adheres to the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework Principles (Swiss-U.S. DPF Principles) with regard to the processing of personal data received from Switzerland in reliance on the Swiss-U.S. DPF. Notice
As a background screening provider, Asurint collects personal data as necessary to fulfill the services requested by our clients who are employers. Personal data may include information such as name, contact information (phone, email address, etc.), date of birth, employment and education history, motor vehicle records, credit history and government identification number. Asurint complies with all applicable law when collecting and processing this information, including adhering to the principles of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework program as it applies to personal data received from individuals in the EU.
Any personal data collected by Asurint will be used to prepare a consumer report (also referred to as a background report or background check) in connection with your employment application, volunteer application, contractor relationship, etc. as requested by our customers. Choice

Accountability for Onward Transfer
During the course of fulfilling the requested services (i.e., preparation of the consumer report), Asurint may transfer information to third parties, such as government agencies and/or subcontractors. Subcontractors are contractually obligated to ensure the security and confidentiality of any personal data supplied to them, and to ensure they will provide the same level of protection as the Data Privacy Framework Principles including notifying Asurint if they believe they can no longer meet this obligation. If this notification from a subcontractor occurs, Asurint will take reasonable and appropriate steps to stop and remediate unauthorized processing. Asurint remains liable for onward transfers to third parties for the purpose of fulfilling the request services.
Security

For example, personal data is encrypted while being transmitted and at rest, and access to information is granted on a privileged permission basis and is only available where needed in conjunction with the services being rendered.
Data Integrity and Purpose Limitation
Asurint collects and processes personal data as outlined previously in this Privacy Policy. Asurint takes reasonable steps to ensure that personal data is reliable for its intended use, accurate, complete, and current. Individuals who believe their personal data is no longer complete or accurate may contact Asurint at the contact information supplied below. Asurint will adhere to the Data Privacy Framework Principles for as long as we retain personal data collected under this Privacy Policy. Asurint retains data as long as needed to fulfill the purposes of processing.
Access
Individuals have a right to access their personal data, and may also direct Asurint to limit the use and disclosure of their personal data to only the parties authorized to receive such information, with the understanding that we may still disclose personal data if required and as outlined elsewhere within this Privacy Policy. Individuals may contact Asurint using the contact information provided to request, in writing, access to the personal data maintained about him/her. Additionally, individuals have the right to correct, amend or delete personal data that is inaccurate, or that has been processed in violation of the Principles, except where the burden or expense of providing access would be disproportionate to the risks to the individual’s privacy in the case in question, or where the rights of the persons other than the individual would be violated.
Recourse, Enforcement and Liability
Asurint has robust mechanisms in place to ensure compliance with the Principles and encourages individuals to use the contact information below to contact us if it is believed we are non-compliant with these Principles. Additionally, Asurint has selected JAMS (Mediation, Arbitration and ADR services) as its independent dispute resolution provider which may be contacted to file a complaint if you feel your concerns have not been properly addressed: https://www.jamsadr.com/dpf-dispute-resolution. Asurint is also subject to the investigatory and enforcement powers of the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Asurint is obligated to arbitrate claims and follow the terms as set forth in Annex I, provided that an individual has invoked binding arbitration by delivering notice to Asurint and following the procedures and subject to conditions set forth in Annex I.
