What should I do if I think something in my background report is wrong?

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you have the right to dispute any information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete in your background report. Once a dispute is filed, Asurint will conduct a reinvestigation at no cost to you, and your prospective organization will be notified.

You can file a dispute through any of the following methods:

· Website

· Phone: 1.800.906.2034

· Fax: 216.916.4190

· Email: compliance@asurint.com

· Mail: Asurint, P.O. Box 14730, Cleveland, OH 44114

There’s no form required to initiate a dispute, but providing your full name, order ID, the organization that ordered your background report, and a brief description of the issue will help us resolve it faster. You may also submit supporting documentation (e.g., court records, expungement orders), though this is not required. All documentation will be considered during the review.

How long will the reinvestigation process take?

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) allows up to 30 days to complete a reinvestigation, but many disputes are resolved within 1–5 business days. Once complete, your prospective organization is notified, and you’ll receive a copy of the updated report along with a reinvestigation outcome letter by mail or email, based on your preference.

Why didn’t my criminal record show up on the background check?

Asurint reports records in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) as well as applicable state and local laws. Certain records — such as arrests or dismissed cases older than seven years — may not be legally reportable. A record may also be excluded if it wasn’t found in the jurisdictions searched or was removed based on the client’s reporting requirements.

How do I request a free copy of my background report?

If Asurint has prepared a consumer report (i.e., a background report) on you, you’re entitled to a free copy. To request it, contact our Compliance team via any of the following methods:

· Website

· Phone: 1-800-906-2034

· Fax: 1-216-916-4190

· Email: compliance@asurint.com

· Mail: Asurint, P.O. Box 14730, Cleveland, OH 44114

To verify your identity, you may be asked to confirm details such as your date of birth and preferred delivery method.
