CFPB Publishes Updated FCRA Required Disclosures

Earlier this summer, Congress passed S. 2155, the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act, to amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) to allow consumers to request a free security freeze from one of the three nationwide credit bureaus.

In response to the law, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) published amended versions of two key documents on September 12th:

  • A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (English and Spanish)
  • Remedying the Effects of Identity Theft (English and Spanish)

The new forms – available here – are required to be sent starting September 21st. Employers should ensure their background screening provider is aware of this change and should also adjust their own forms. Asurint has already taken the steps to ensure the new forms are in our system effective September 21st.
